Rococo pairs of figures: a boy and a girl with baskets of flowers are seated on tree stumps. From the time Kändler was at Meissen, child gardeners were always designed as pairs. By assigning a girl as the counterpart to each boy, the sculptor attempted to create balance and an ideal atmosphere for a Rococo scene. The figures were often accompanied by animals (a small dog or lamb) or musical instruments, which intended to intensify the sense of playfulness and harmony.
